The 2017 Ford Super Duty will have an all-aluminum body, similar to the 2015 version of the F-150, to lose some weight. With the new aluminum body and a high strength steel frame, the Ford Super Duty will be 350 pounds lighter and even stronger than before. An all new lighting package is included in the 2017 Super Duty with quad-beam LED lights, LED side spotlights, and a cargo box with LEDs to make sure you will be able to find anything you need when working after dusk.
The Super Duty offers two different frame designs. One of these two frames will be the fully boxed frame that is on the F-250, F-350, and the F-450. The other frame is for chassis trucks and will have a fully boxed section under the cab, and a C-channel design under the rear frame of the truck. According to Ford this makes it easier for aftermarket changes on trucks like wreckers, flat beds, and dump beds.
Safety and Tech
You can make sure that you will have the best in new tech while driving the 2017 Ford Super Duty with features like blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, collision warning, and adaptive cruise control. Now the truck monitors blind spots and can check a connected trailer’s blind areas as well. With adaptive cruise control you can continue to move at various speeds in higher traffic areas, and you can use it with a fully loaded trailer attached as well.
Heavy Duty Equipment
The all new frame of the Super Duty consists of 95 percent high strength steel. The F-150 has a fully boxed backbone which will now be shared by the Ford Super Duty. The Super Duty has beaten all the competition by creating a truck with towing capabilities reaching 1,000 pounds more than the next best competitor. For fifth-wheel users the closest competition is 2,500 pounds less than the Ford Super Duty. The Super Duty’s gross combined weight is 41,800 pounds, which is just over what a semi can legally weigh. Even with a lot of the new changes to the 2017 Ford Super Duty, you can expect that the truck is only getting better. These upgrades make sure that the Ford Super Duty will live up to the expectations that it has had for the past 18 years by being the best in its class.
